Signs Express Newcastle were recently commissioned to produce a number of signs for ‘A Taste of Northumbria’ a new outlet in Alnwick, Northumberland. They sell locally produced products such as Lindisfarne Mead, Alnwick Rum and beer from Alnwick Brewery.
We worked closely with Craig Scott from design agency ‘Limeaid’ who wanted something which would complement and blend in with the surroundings of the historic market town of Alnwick but at the same time would allow the new venture to stand out from the crowd.
The result is a mix of modern techniques and 21st century materials blended with historical style and references.
The main fascia sign was made with a combination of metal, wood and plastics to produce a sign in the style of a page from an ancient manuscript.
The lower signs placed at eye level to attract passers-by advertise the locally produced products for sale.
Within days of the signs being fitted, the one for Lindisfarne Mead, a drink made with honey was covered by a swarm of bees. The phenomenon called a “Top Swarm” attracted a large crowd of onlookers, one eye witness said “It was almost like it was snowing”. Coincidence? So when we at Signs Express say that we understand the power of great signs and graphics, you know it must be true.
