Signs Express (Nottingham) were recently approached by local resident, James Barnsley, to help promote his quest to raise money for Cancer Research UK. His personal story touched them so much they produced and applied vehicle graphics to his car, free of charge, to help advertise the charity and his fundraising page. James can now be seen driving around with his new vehicle graphics, hoping it will generate even more donations to such a good cause, promoting his just giving page and Cancer Research UK.
James was planning on taking part in Cancer Research’s ‘Dryathalon’ which saw people being sponsored to give up all alcohol for the month of January, with all proceeds going to the charity. Unfortunately James’ family were struck by tragedy at the start of the year when his aunt lost her struggle with terminal cancer. The sudden loss of a loved one triggered James to take the challenge one step further to help raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK – he is now going ‘teetotal’ for the whole of 2013 and undertaking some physical challenges too in order to increase sponsorship potential.
He’ll be taking part in the Great North Run (aiming to complete it in less than his previous time of 2 hours 1 minute) and the Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest (again, hoping to beat a previous time of 1 hour 48 minutes). He’s not stopping there though – he also wants to compete in the Robin Hood Half Marathon and is planning on submitting his entry as soon as application opens for the event.
James’ ambition is to raise at least £1,000 for cancer Research UK with his various fundraising through-out 2013. If you’d like to sponsor him please visit http://www.justgiving.com/dryathlete-james-barnsley for more information and to help him reach his target for Cancer Research UK.
Jane Bailey, Managing Director, at Signs Express (Nottingham) commented: “James is such a lovely and ambitious man, when he told me about his hopes to raise money for Cancer Research UK, and the tragic news in which linked him so closely with that particular charity, I was delighted to have been able to assist him by applying promotional graphics to his Citroen. Hopefully these graphics will generate more people to donate to such a good cause and encourage James to keep up the good work. We wish him the best of luck for his 2013 challenge.”
