Fifteen years on from when the doors first opened at Signs Express in Glasgow, there’s a new business owner at the helm. As one of the most successful centres in the UK’s largest sign franchise, with a raft of awards and extended territories to cover the whole of Glasgow, new franchisee Graham Casey is excited about his new business.
Graham is the latest franchisee to join the 80-strong Signs Express network, having worked for Macfarlane Group PLC for over 30 years and leaving as a member of its board of directors earlier this year. Graham had reached a point in his career where he wanted to try something different and utilise his skills and knowledge to run his own business.
The value of the Glasgow franchise resale is the most in Signs Express’ long history - over 3 times the highest price of a sale - which is testament to the strength and size of the business, its extensive machinery and loyal customer base. High quality and excellent customer service are instilled throughout all staff and Graham is relishing the opportunity to continue this and grow even further.
When Graham discovered that the husband and wife team at Signs Express (Glasgow) would consider selling their business now rather than in a couple of years which they had originally planned, it seemed like an ideal opportunity. “Taking over an already established Signs Express centre was more appealing because of the comfort of having an experienced team and a ready-made customer base. It was also important to me to be close to my family and home life.”
“To many customers its very much business as usual, as we have a strong experienced and settled team and the business will continue to operate to the high standards it has prided itself on. We have excellent premises with a wide range of production equipment in-house and work with many local and national companies in the public and private sectors, fulfilling a wide range of signs and graphics requirements. Our in-house design studio helps us offer an extended range of services for customers and I am looking to build on this in the coming months.
Two months on from his decision, the Glasgow centre is now under Graham’s guidance and with numerous new exciting sign and graphic projects on the go, he’s pleased with his decision.
On the change in ownership, Signs Express sales and marketing director Tony Marsh said: “We are thrilled that Graham has come on board with us but also very sad to see Neil & Carol Fraser move to pastures new. They were recently rewarded for their efforts in a presentation which recognised them reaching over £5m invoiced sales. Couple this with the raft of awards they have received over their history, and their excellent attention to detail, and its easy to see the impact they have had on the network. With Graham’s vast experience we have no doubt that this will continue under his ownership.”
Signs Express (Glasgow) is one of three existing centres to be under new ownership. Glenn and Danny Pickersgill have also recently taken over Signs Express (South Durham) along with new owners Neil Fisher and Mark Kendall at Signs Express (Southampton). A brand new franchise has also opened in Derrylin, Northern Ireland.
