Dame Vera Lynn, the Forces Sweetheart, has added her signature to a customised truck which will be auctioned for the Help for Heroes charity.
The 2002 Scania R124, which has been “pimped” by Truck & Driver magazine and a host of industry sponsors, goes on sale on eBay this week. It is hoped it will raise thousands of pounds, all profits of which will be donated to this worthwhile charity. Bids start at 1p.
Mark Meadowcroft, owner of Signs Express (Northampton) provided the vehicle graphics for the truck to help raise funds for the Help For Heroes charity.
Mark Meadowcroft commented: “It has been great to be involved with such a worthwhile charity, we were delighted to assist with the project by applying graphics showing sponsors.”
The 420 horsepower Scania was donated to Truck & Driver magazine by three independent used truck dealers from the North West, DW commercials, JW Commercials and Trucks 2 Go. It has subsequently been completely refurbished and customised thanks to numerous companies and individuals, who have given up their time, expertise and products free of charge.
Dame Vera Lynn commented: “It looks fantastic! My great-grandchildren would love to have a drive in it. It’s a pleasure to help worthwhile a charity as Help for Heroes.”
Colin Barnett, Editor of Truck & Driver, added: “It's been a challenge to pull together the contributions from all of the generous sponsors. It's a fitting conclusion to the project to have it literally signed off by Dame Vera."
You can bid for this unique Scania R124 on eBay (ref: 130797971175) from Tuesday 6 November 2012.
