The Q3 Academy is a new multi million pound ground up academy school in Walsall, West Midlands. The Academy construction was part funded by a successful international businessman who grew up in the area.
Signs Express Birmingham approached to do the work directly by the Academy following a recommendation by BAM construction who were the construction firm on the project, we have completed several whole school signage projects of a similar scale with BAM to date. The Academy were looking for additional signage to personalise the award winning building and help reinforce the Academy’s brand.
We had several meetings with our contact Stewart Hills, an independent Project Manager working on behalf of the Academy and the Sponsor who in turn consulted the Principal, Sponsor and Governors to ascertain what they were looking for in relaying the Q3 Academy strengths and values through their signage.
The sign itself comprises two back to back duel colour powder coated aluminium trays some 3.9 metres x 1.6 metres in size fitted to D section posts with a built up polished stainless steel Q3 logo, flat cut stainless steel ‘Academy’ text and colour matched blue cut vinyl text to the face.
The sign is situated in a difficult location for access in a raised wooded area surrounded by fencing meaning the sign had to be crained into place and an HGV pumping truck was used in conjunction with the cement mixing lorry to pump the concrete over some 60 metres to the location to fix the sign in place.
