Local athlete Glenn Scott, has been selected as one of the 8,000 torchbearers for this years London Olympic Games and is also an ambassador for the Waterloo Schools charity in Sierra Leone. Signs Express (Birmingham SW) have kindly donated a banner promoting awareness for his charity which will be displayed when the torch visits the local Bromsgrove area.
Glenn was born with Talipes, known more commonly as ‘club feet’ and has gone through several operations to correct the position of his feet. The Waterloo Schools charity in Sierra Leone was set up by Glenn’s surgeon Laurie Read to support underprivileged children by restoring and developing their nursery, primary and secondary education.
Signs Express centre owner Joe Smith and his team supplied the eye-catching banner promoting Glenn’s support of the charity and it will be proudly displayed on Glenn’s support vehicle as he helps the torch on its journey around the UK.
Commenting on the project Joe said; “This is a very special year for Britain with the World’s eyes on us for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and so it’s great for us to play our part locally and to show support for Glenn. He is a true inspiration.”
Glenn is running the Earlswood leg of the national tour on July 1st and is hoping to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Paralympic Games.
