Long standing Signs Express franchisee Ken Bevis takes the top spot winning Franchisee of the Year at this year’s Signs Express Awards.
Ken Bevis, centre owner at Signs Express (N. & N.E. Lincs) scooped the prestigious award as Franchisee of the Year as a result of his continued outstanding performance and his ability to exceed expectation even during the current economic downturn. Ken also reached the finals of the Ambassador award category.
The awards ceremony was the final event to take place at this year’s Signs Express convention which marked the 20th anniversary for the group. The elegant awards ceremony gave all Signs Express centres the opportunity to be judged as individual franchises for what they have accomplished over their own years of trading and to put forward their own work for the best sign and vehicle categories. Competition was tough with a number of worthy winners in the mix but the final decision rested with the Signs Express directors and a selection of independent judges.
Based in Grimsby, Signs Express (N. & N.E. Lincs) was one of the first Signs Express franchises to open back in 1992. Group managing director Craig Brown commented on the award: “When many businesses have suffered during these uncertain times Ken and his team have remained focused and returned results that hopefully inspire others for what can be achieved.”
To win the award Ken beat two other very worthy candidates; Geoff and Lee Eaton at Signs Express (Manchester) for their performance year after year and their ability to create excellent customer relationships through their high level of service and quality products; and Steve McMurray at Signs Express (Falkirk) for taking a small centre and developing his business dramatically through extending his customer base and transforming his production centre with new equipment and full refurbishment. Ken also reached the finals of the Ambassador Award category.
Ken commented on the awards: “Winning Franchisee of the Year is a great achievement and especially true when up against such worthy finalists. Having been with the Signs Express group for 17 years we’ve experienced many fluctuations in the economy but through hard work we’ve been able to grow and develop the business to where it is now. As a team we’ve always remained firmly focused on achieving the best results so to win is a great accomplishment for us all.”
Taking place every two years, the convention sees a number of members of the group from all over the UK and Ireland visit the outskirts of Norwich at the De Vere Dunston Hall hotel, and this year was no exception. Spread over the course of two days, franchisees were able to hear the latest in developments across the network as well as new business opportunities available to increase turnover and enhance their customer base.
