Local sign specialist Signs Express (Liverpool & Wirral) receives national recognition reaching the finals of the Special Achievement Award category at this year’s Signs Express Convention.
Roy Heeley and John McEntee, centre owners at Signs Express (Liverpool & Wirral) reached the finals of the Special Achievement Award category due to taking what some might call a gamble during a recession by moving to larger premises. But the gamble paid off and the pair have successfully grown their customer base as a result. Up against two other successful franchisees, Roy and John faced the likes of Signs Express (Peterborough) and Signs Express (Bedford), with Dave and Anne Hitch at Signs Express (Peterborough) named the winners after much deliberation between judges.
The awards ceremony was the final event to take place at this year’s Signs Express convention which marked the 20th anniversary for the group. The elegant awards ceremony gave all Signs Express centres the opportunity to be judged as individual franchises for what they have accomplished over their own years of trading and to put forward their work for the best sign and vehicle categories. Competition was tough with a number of worthy winners in the mix but the final decision rested with the Signs Express directors and a selection of independent judges.
Based in Bromborough, Signs Express (Liverpool & Wirral) has been part of the Signs Express network for over 10 years. Roy commented on the award announcement: “We were delighted to be recognised as a finalist in the Special Achievement award. It’s an excellent achievement not just for myself and John but also for the team as a whole. We’ve worked hard to up our game and adjust for the current economic downturn and we’re pleased that the effort is paying off.”
Signs Express managing director Craig Brown said: “Roy and John have bucked the trend. Whilst many of us were battening down the hatches for the recession, they decided to move to much larger premises and have still successfully grown the business.”
Taking place every two years, the convention sees a number of members of the group from all over the UK and Ireland visit the outskirts of Norwich at the De Vere Dunston Hall hotel, and this year was no exception. Spread over the course of two days, franchisees were able to hear the latest in developments across the network as well as new business opportunities available to increase turnover and enhance their customer base.
