Signs Express franchisees Dave and Anne Hitch take the top spot winning a Special Achievement Award at this year’s Signs Express Convention.
The husband and wife team at Signs Express (Peterborough) scooped the Special Achievement Award as a result of their approach and ability to adjust to the current economic downturn. By remaining focused and moulding their approach to fit with their current market position, Dave and Anne have reached the finals of the BFA Franchisee of the Year Awards which takes place early next month and have also recently taken over the reigns as Signs Express (King’s Lynn).
The awards ceremony was the final event to take place at this year’s Signs Express convention which marked the 20th anniversary for the group. The elegant awards ceremony gave all Signs Express centres the opportunity to be judged as individual franchises for what they have accomplished over their own years of trading and to put forward their own work for the best sign and vehicle categories. Competition was tough with a number of worthy winners in the mix but the final decision rested with the Signs Express directors and a selection of independent judges.
Based on Saracen Business Park, Signs Express (Peterborough) has been trading since 2002 and has already moved into larger premises to meet customer demand. Group managing director Craig Brown commented on the award: “When many businesses have suffered during these uncertain times Dave and Anne have excelled through their strong marketing focus, great attention to detail and their exemplary customer service, which has in turn, helped the centre achieve high levels of repeat business and customer referrals.”
To win the award Dave and Anne beat two other very worthy candidates; Chris and Julie Hardy at Signs Express (Bedford) for their performance year after year; and Roy Heeley and John McEntee at Signs Express (Liverpool) for taking what some might call a gamble during a recession by moving to larger premises and successfully growing their customer base as a result. Signs Express (Peterborough) also reached the finals of the Best Vehicle Graphics Project Award.
Dave commented on the awards: “Winning the Special Achievement award is a great achievement and especially true when up against such worthy finalists. We’ve had lots of excitement in recent months with reaching the finals of the BFA Franchisee of the Year awards and also having just taken over Signs Express in King’s Lynn so receiving recognition for our achievements was great news.”
Taking place every two years, the convention sees a number of members of the group from all over the UK and Ireland visit the outskirts of Norwich at the De Vere Dunston Hall hotel, and this year was no exception. Spread over the course of two days, franchisees were able to hear the latest in developments across the network as well as new business opportunities available to increase turnover and enhance their customer base.
