As part of Exeter City F.C’s ongoing development as a League 1 team, their sponsors and guests have had an enhanced matchday experience with the addition of some striking ‘Premier League’ level wall displays supplied by the club’s official sign partner Signs Express (Exeter). The large displays chart the history of the club, showing images of key points in the club’s history including the South American tour of 1914 when the club made history by playing Brazil, the visit of George Best in 1969, key players such as Jimmy Giles, Alan Banks & Tony Kellow right up to the promotion success at Rotherham in 2008.
Commercial Manager Bruce Henderson commented: “We have long admired how other clubs encapsulate their history, especially pictorially, in areas of their stadiums. We are therefore thrilled at what Nick and his team at Signs Express have so kindly provided in collaboration with the club historian, Andy Fuller. They have transformed the upstairs bar and hospitality suite with more to come over time for other areas as part of an on-going plan. Every one who has seen the prints and the way they are presented, agrees that they are beautiful pieces of work and we are truly grateful to Signs Express for this contribution to the club”.
Although the images very much deal with the history of the club the style of the displays is very much in line with the club’s new vision and contemporary approach. Each main panel measures 1200mm x 900mm with a large digital print applied to the rear of a 10mm thick polished clear acrylic panel mounted on large ‘feature’ stud locators to give a very smart, professional finish.
Nick Baxter-Sibley, Managing Director of Signs Express commented “We have been associated with the club in one way or another for the 15 years we have been in business in Exeter, sharing the many highs and lows along the way. As we continue our ongoing sponsorship & partnership with the club we are delighted to have provided these striking displays that celebrate so many key points in the club’s history”.
The theme of the supply of artwork associated with the club has continued with Signs Express supplying a range of canvases that have formed the visual centre-piece of the recently unveiled ‘Grecian Voices’ display in the club’s Centre Spot bar.
As well as their many connections with Exeter City, including sponsoring “Kellow’s Bootlaces”, Signs Express provide a wide range of signs to many local and national businesses – more details can be found at www.signsexpress.co.uk/exeter.
