Top award nomination for leading sign maker

Michael O'Hara, Signs Express (Sligo)
05 February 2010
Through business expansion, focussing on excellent customer service and gaining new high profile contracts, Signs Express (Sligo) has reached the well deserved finals of this year’s Irish Franchisee of the Year awards.
As a finalist, franchisee owner of the Sligo-based company, Michael O’Hara has been recognised by the Irish Franchise Association for his ability to build on an already successful business model.
Michael has excelled through his desire to substantially grow the business enabling him to combat the turmoil of recession and push forward to a 10% increase in turnover in 2009 – at a time when many competitors have struggled to continue trading.
Michael commented on the awards: “I was delighted to hear that we’d reached the finals. It’s a great achievement for me as well as recognition for my staff who have worked so hard to help us reach where we are today. Success in challenging times demands a fully strategic approach and by combining our marketing activities to win and retain custom, investment in new technology and staff, we’ve been able to face the current economic climate with confidence. I would also like to thank all our customers all across the North West region and beyond.”
The awards which will be hosted on Friday 19th February, take place at Croke Park, Dublin on the first night of the Irish Franchise Show. The night brings together a number of franchisees from as diverse industries as couriers to caterers to receive recognition for their astute business acumen and approach in the current economic climate. In a double whammy, Signs Express as a franchisor has also reached the finals of the Irish Franchisor of the Year awards.
Signs Express managing director Craig Brown commented on the announcement: “We are delighted that Michael has been recognised for his achievements and since opening his business less than three years ago, he has shown great promise right from the very early days of trading. His plans for continuing on the upward trend show excellent potential for continuing to achieve his goals. We are also very happy that the strength of the brand has been recognised with our franchisor of the year nomination.”
Established in 2007, Signs Express (Sligo) has developed into one of the largest in the Signs Express network. The centre provides a complete design, manufacture and fitting service for all forms of signage including interior and exterior signs, vehicle graphics, banners, window graphics and exhibition display products.
