Apprentice Sign Maker vacancy in Stoke
Signs Express (Stoke) are looking for an apprentice to join their busy team. We provide innovative signs and graphics solutions to a whole host of clients and are part of the UK's largest signs and graphics franchise.
What you will do
We are looking for an Apprentice Sign Maker to work alongside our experienced staff, learning all aspects of the business including the preparation and application of vinyl graphics onto signs, vehicles, windows etc. You will also be involved with installing signs at customers’ premises plus other tasks as required. You must have good attention to detail, be enthusiastic, be confident, personable and have a “can do” attitude with a good aptitude for practical work.
As this role is for an apprentice, our chief aim is to help the right person to develop their creative and design skills and expertise to become an excellent sign maker. In return, we ask for commitment to your studies and to use this role within the company to gain the necessary experience and skills required by your course.
This vacancy would suit a motivated person who wants an exciting career in this creative industry. Uniform work-wear will be provided as well as Safety equipment and full ongoing training will be given.
Training is provided via your apprenticeship programme delivered via the relevant educational institution and supported by the key responsibilities and activities of this role. We expect you to attend all required classes and successfully complete all the relevant coursework, tests, assessments and exams relating to the apprenticeship programme.
The company also expects the person in this position to keep up to date with new creative ideas, digital design, software and technology and to similarly consider how the latest technology developments may impact or benefit the company and its clients.

Drawing and design ability
Accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Discussing requirements with the client
Use specialist computer design software to prepare designs (training in-house and on-going)
Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator/Coral Draw Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Indesign, Illustrator & Photoshop or any design software would be an advantage
A driving licence would be useful but not essential
Creativity and imagination
Flexibility and ability to learn new techniques
Capability to handle heavy & awkward shape items, & be confident working at height off ladders & scaffold towers
Your working hours
The hours of work are normally 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. These hours are dependent on when you are required to attend college and from time to time you may be required to work additional hours to meet deadlines.Apply
