The light boxes were constructed from Russian birch plywood with the finish being achieved with different colours of wood stain. Each panel was intricately routed in-house and hand finished to ensure a perfect to the box aperture as fixings had to be kept invisible. With a mixture of illuminated and non-illuminated boxes, they were all mounted to the wall and left exposed to allow them to be fully wired from a central power feed, ensuring all the cables were hidden. Due to the constantly evolving nature of science, each box also had to have an interchangeable panel to allow them to be regularly updated.
