Signs Express (Exeter) were delighted to help when the HeartStart Team, a local National Citizen Service (NCS) group, got in touch.
Part of the NCS programme is a Social Action Project. HeartStart had chosen their project to both raise money for a defibrillator & to raise awareness of the location of defibrillators within Exeter City Centre. The first 3 minutes after a sudden cardiac arrest are critical and being able to quickly access a defibrillator can make a major difference in achieving a good outcome. HeartStart wanted to improve the visibility of defibrillator locations by asking local shops to display stickers in their windows signposting the nearest. Signs Express Exeter were delighted to help with this project, sponsoring the stickers so that more of the money the team raised could be put towards a new defibrillator. Andrea Parkin, the NCS Team Leader working with HeartStart said "It has been such a pleasure working with 11 passionate, dedicated young people. They came up with this idea after receiving CPR training as part of their NCS course. It’s great that Signs Express Exeter have been able to help support the project by sponsoring the stickers." Marion Baxter-Sibley, Director of Signs Express (Exeter), commented "When Andrea asked us to quote for these stickers we were delighted to be able to sponsor them. This is such a worthwhile initiative from a fantastic group of young people and we’re pleased to be supporting them." Next time you’re in Exeter City Centre look out for these stickers – you never know when you might need to find a defibrillator!
