Our Work
A day in the life of...
A day in the life of Chris Reilly, Signs Express (Plymouth) franchisee
08:00 I set off for the drive into work, taking in the fantastic South Hams scenery and arranging the day's appointments in my head. 08:30 As my computer whirs into life I plan my day. The guys are starting to arrive so I prepare my notes for our morning production meeting, ensuring everything is covered. 09:00 Production meeting over, I head out to my first appointment of the day. The company is based in Tavistock and I'm meeting with a designer to talk through what is required. With a skilled team in the centre I am able to offer a range of services, from creating artwork in-house for customers to liaising closely with customers' designers ensuring their brief is met and exceeded. 10:30 After a successful meeting I head back to the production centre to check my emails and respond to quote requests with a hot coffee. 12:00 With the festive season in the dim and distant past and a new season just around the corner I discuss our promotions with my marketing assistant. We decide on a 'Spring is in the Air' eshot to our contacts which details our extensive range of promotional items, such as Banners and Flags, perfect for local events and retailer's point-of-sale displays. 14:00 Its back out on the road for me as I head over to Plympton for a meeting with a new customer. As part of our service we offer free site visits, giving me the opportunity to discuss the customers' requirements and to recommend other beneficial signage solutions for their business. 15:00 On my way back to the centre I stop off to take pictures of some of our recent signage installations for our website. We like to keep our online portfolio up to date, showcasing our range of work. 17:00 Back at my desk I email these across to head office, have a quick overview of the day with my team. The guys have been applying livery to some of our customers vehicles in our dedicated temperature controlled 'Vehicle Bay' this ensures they have a confortable environment in which to work while maintaining a high quality finished product. They have also been utilising the speed and quality of our newly installed 'Rolls Roller' flat bed applicator which amongst other things applies digitally printed images to large substrate panels with incredible accuracy and efficiency. 18:00 I finish off any outstanding quotations from the day and artwork proofs, emailing them to the prospective clients to ensure they are waiting in their inbox for the next working day. Set off for the journey home.
