Our Work
Local Sign Makers Work with Award Winning Author to 'Prep' a School Minibus.
Signs Express (Plymouth) recently completed a project for Plymouth College Preparatory School. The Prep School wanted to gain publicity in a fun and engaging way, capturing the essence of the school and targeting its audience - young children and their parents.
Award winning author and illustrator, Simon James, produced some striking graphics to be used on the Prep School's mini bus which not only created a fabulous finished result, but also promoted the Prep School's open day to encourage more attendees. Chris Reilly (MD Signs Express Plymouth) commented: 'We were thrilled to be asked to print and apply these amazing graphics to Plymouth College Prep School's Mini Bus. Simon (James) created the perfected graphics which made the project really fun to work on. He (Simon) painted the scene in water colour which we then in turn digitised and printed on to Metamark MDX and perforated window film, direct from our new Epson SureColour S50600. The output was then laminated and applied to the vehicle as a full wrap. We hope you'll agree that the finished result is stunning and we are delighted to be able to have been involved in the project'. Signs Express (Plymouth) recently brought the new Epson printer in order to be able print really high calibre quality work - making sure their clients all ways get the best possible finished result from any work they undertake. Plymouth College Prep School are incredibly pleased with the finished result of the mini bus - and we're sure all the children are loving it to. We were lucky enough to be able to catch up with Simon James after the project, who said of the whole experience: 'It's been a pleasure for me to work on this unusual project that has suited my style of illustration so easily. I wanted to depict a sunny school environment of community and discovery, therefore it seemed best to create a scene outdoors within the school grounds, amongst nature. After designing it, the actual illustration took much longer than I thought, there's a lot going on, and the school uniform is very detailed. Of course, the artwork was created at my desk in my studio, I have seen my work hugely enlarged on various posters and projects before, but you never know quite how it will turn out. It was great pleasure to see it for the first time today, I am delighted with the result.'
