Plymouth City Council Youth Services
Signs Express (Plymouth) has been commissioned by Plymouth City Council Youth Services Department to design, manufacture and install exterior signs for eight of its youth centers in and around the city.
With input from the community, the brief was to manufacture and design eye catching signage to give the Youth Centre some identity. Working to a tight budget, the sign panels were manufactured from an aluminium composite material formed into trays with a combination of flat cut 10mm thick Foamex and digitally printed vinyl. The aluminium composite 'trays' and Foamex lettering and logos were fabricated on the centre's flat bed CNC router together with digitally printed design with a protective laminate face. The entire project was manufactured in-house. Installation coincided with a particularly busy period (the re-branding of local radio station - Heart FM) and the budgetary constraints of the city council. This, however, was achieved in the allocated two day period.
