In September next year, our Production Manager, Gareth Russell, is undertaking a mammoth bike ride to raise valuable funds for Rotherham Hospice who is celebrating their 20 year anniversary.
Along with 49 other cyclists, Gareth is taking part in a 345 mile cycle from London to Paris that has had a specially planned route designed to pass through Rotherham's twin city Saint-Quentin, creating a one-off event to raise money for the daily running of the Hospice. Since 1996, Rotherham Hospice has been providing an excellent standard of care for all adults throughout Rotherham who are affected by terminal illnesses. The Hospice defines its purpose as providing the best standard of care for our patients and to support their families, carers and friends. The personnel at the Hospice aim to give the most appropriate and efficient treatment and care to their patients through a holistic approach, to assist in the relief of their physical and emotional suffering and to help them lead a purposeful and fulfilling life in their home or in the Hospice. Each year the Hospice needs to raise over £2 million from fundraising and voluntary donations to meet the centre's total annual running cost of £5 million. The services that the Hospice provides are reliant on the fundraising efforts of people like Gareth, who partook in this cycling event in 2013. In 2013, Gareth managed to raise an epic £5,000 for the Rotherham Hospice and is hoping to replicate if not exceed his success this year. If you want to give to this amazing cause, any donation large or small is greatly appreciated – follow this link to Gareth's JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/Gareth-Russell2/ Has Gareth's story inspired you to join in as well? If so, you'd better get a wiggle on as the event has just 50 places available so if you fancy joining the cyclists go to the booking link on the event's website www.rotherhamhospice.org.uk.
