Reading Buses at a Glance
Reading Buses is a familiar name across Reading and the surrounding area. With a large fleet on the road each day, their branding is seen by passengers, pedestrians, drivers and the wider local community.
That kind of visibility matters.
A bus livery does more than make a vehicle look good. It helps people recognise services, supports campaigns and brings colour to everyday journeys. For Reading Buses, keeping that presence fresh and consistent is an important part of how they communicate with the people they serve.
Since July 2024, Signs Express Reading & Slough has supported Reading Buses on a range of fleet and workplace graphics projects, working alongside their trusted third-party design agency, Best Impressions. The work has included livery updates, temporary seasonal graphics, internal office graphics and a full double-decker bus wrap to promote the launch of the Reading Buses mobile app.
Over time, the relationship has developed into a strong working partnership. Clear communication, practical problem-solving and careful attention to detail have all played a part.

Project Brief
Reading Buses needed a signage and graphics partner who could apply supplied designs accurately across a busy, operational fleet.
There were several parts to the brief. More than 100 buses required livery updates. Seasonal graphics had to be installed cleanly and consistently. The Reading Buses office space also needed new branded graphics to add energy and personality to the working environment.
A larger project soon followed.
To support the launch of their new mobile platform app, the Reading Buses marketing team wanted one of their older double-decker buses fully wrapped. It was a bold, high-visibility idea, but it came with a tight turnaround and a vehicle that needed careful handling.
The finished graphics needed to look sharp, reflect the brand properly and be ready for the bus to return to the road with minimal disruption.
Where Precision Mattered
Fleet graphics leave very little room for error.
Buses are large, public-facing and constantly in use. Their surfaces include curves, panel joins, doors, windows and other details that all affect how graphics are planned and fitted.
For our team, accuracy was key. We had to make sure each design translated properly, while maintaining a consistent finish across a large number of buses.
The app launch wrap brought extra pressure. It involved an older double-decker, a highly visible design and a short deadline. From first contact through to artwork approval, production and installation, the full wrap was completed in just three days.
There was no time for unnecessary back and forth. Artwork checks, print production, preparation and fitting are all needed to move quickly, without compromising the finish.
Our Approach
Signs Express Reading & Slough worked closely with Reading Buses and Best Impressions to keep each stage moving smoothly.
For the wider fleet updates, the team produced and installed livery graphics and temporary seasonal designs across more than 100 buses. Some of the work focused on everyday branding. Other projects brought a more festive or campaign-led feel to the vehicles.
Every application still needed the same care.
Inside the Reading Buses office, we produced and installed high-resolution, full-colour digitally printed and cut graphics. The new graphics helped brighten the space and create a stronger link between the workplace and the Reading Buses brand.
The app launch wrap became the standout project. An older double-decker was transformed into a moving campaign vehicle, giving the new mobile app a visible presence across Reading while the bus continued its usual role in the community.
From Artwork to Install
A clear process made the three-day turnaround possible.
First, we reviewed the supplied artwork and prepared the graphics for production. The team then planned the installation around the vehicle, the deadline and the finish required.
Once the artwork was approved, production moved quickly. The graphics were then fitted with close attention to alignment, durability and overall appearance.
Communication made a real difference. Reading Buses, Best Impressions and our team each knew what needed to happen, which helped keep decisions moving and the project on track.
It was a practical example of how good signage projects come together: the right artwork, the right preparation and a team focused on doing the job properly.
Results on the Road
Once complete, the wrapped double-decker gave the app launch a strong presence across Reading.
Instead of relying only on digital promotion, Reading Buses had a campaign vehicle that could be seen by passengers, pedestrians and other road users throughout the town. The wrap helped make the app launch feel visible, local and easy to notice.
The wider fleet work has also supported a fresh and professional look across the Reading Buses network. Seasonal graphics have added colour at key moments in the year, while the office graphics have helped carry the brand into the internal working environment.
Feedback from those involved was positive, including the Reading Buses marketing team, Best Impressions and the Signs Express Reading & Slough team responsible for production and installation.
Above all, the work helped Reading Buses continue to present their brand clearly in the community they serve.
