Sheffield university student union shop

When the University decided the Student Union shop needed a brighter, more modern look, they called us at Signs Express Sheffield. The refurbishment had to be finished before the summer open day, so time was tight.

Our solution

We met with the Union’s design team and shop staff to go through colour ideas and finishes. Together we picked out a set of matt self-adhesive vinyls that worked with the new wall colours—over 100 metres of 1220 mm-wide material in total.

Our crew also produced the printed header panels that sit above the gondola shelving and tie in with the new brand colours. Everything was made and installed during the short summer break.

Deadlines were tough, but we’ve handled plenty of university work before, so we knew the drill. Prep started early each day; by the final week we were fitting late into the evening. The shop had to be spotless for opening day, and it was.

The Result

The new graphics completely changed the feel of the shop. The colours are bold without being overwhelming, and the space now feels lively and welcoming. Students notice it straight away when they walk in.

I contacted Signs express and they talked me through a few different price options and discussed my requirements. they pointed out that part of what I wanted would require the use of vinal wrap and explained why. they then sent me some ideas of what my van would look like. I requested to change a couple of bits and very quickly we had designed exactly what I was looking for. I proof checked it and got booked in for fitting. I dropped the van off in the morning and it was ready for collection in the afternoon, looking exactly how I wanted it. I highly recommend signs express, the whole process was excellent.
