On Saturday 17th June, the 2017 Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit took place in Plymouth. Amongst its participants was our very own Chris Reilly, owner of Signs Express (Plymouth) in his boat Sound Venture.
Raising much needed funds for St. Luke’s Hospice – an organisation providing specialist end of life care at home, in Derriford Hospital or at their dedicated unit in Turnchapel – Chris Reilly manned one of the 68 yachts that sailed over 26 miles in the challenge. Chris had this to say, “Whenever we get the chance, we support St. Luke’s Hospice, who do really amazing work in the local community. This pursuit was the perfect opportunity to combine my passion for sailing with our fundraising efforts. The fundraising page is still open, so no matter what you have, if you can donate, a little goes a long way!” The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit is an event wholly funded by a private charitable trust and was first sailed in 2002. So far, it has raised almost half a million pounds for local good causes, making it the third largest fundraising event in the South-West. If you would like to make a donation to recognise the sailor’s achievement and the invaluable contribution St. Luke’s Hospice makes to the local community, please visit St Luke’s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/stlukeshospiceplymouth
