The Project
When the ABP City Cruise Terminal in Southampton needed a full signage upgrade, they turned to Signs Express Southampton.
The brief? Replace more than 200 signs across the terminal, all within just eight weeks. A demanding schedule, but one our team was ready to take on.

The Challenge
This wasn’t a standard installation. The terminal is a busy, working passenger hub. Ships come and go. Timings matter. Signs could only be fitted on days when no vessels were in port. Every stage had to be carefully coordinated to avoid disruption.

Our Approach
The Southampton team pulled out all the stops. Designs were produced, manufacturing got underway, and a detailed timetable kept everything on track. But planning wasn’t just about the signs themselves. Extra storage space was borrowed from a neighbouring business. Additional fitters joined us from another Signs Express centre. The aim was simple - meet the deadline without affecting service for any of our other customers.
On installation days, the process ran like clockwork. Crews moved quickly, fitting the new signage while the terminal stood empty. Each stage was checked, double-checked, and signed off before moving on.

The Result
The outcome? A refreshed terminal that now boasts clear, professional signage at every turn. From wayfinding boards to identification signs, the new suite improves navigation, enhances safety, and gives the terminal a polished, consistent look.

A World-Class Terminal
ABP had already invested over £9 million in refurbishing and upgrading the terminal back in 2007. That work prepared it for the world’s biggest cruise liners. Today, visitors to Southampton regularly see vessels such as Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas, Celebrity Eclipse, Fred Olsen’s Black Watch, and the Saga Ruby and Saga Pearl II departing from its docks.
For Signs Express Southampton, contributing to this landmark facility was a privilege. It wasn’t just about replacing old signs with new ones. It was about helping a world-class cruise terminal deliver the experience its passengers expect and deserve.
