Braille is a tactile reading and writing system which represents text and is made up of raised dots to replicate numbers, letters, symbols and common words.
National Braille Week, organised by the Royal Blind Charity and running from 7th – 13th October to coincide with World Sight Day, is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of braille and other alternative reading formats which open up the written world to those with vision impairments.
