Our Work
Car Park Signage project for Epping Forest District Council
We recently worked with Epping Forest District Council to replace tariff boards across 20 of their car parks. It’s not the first time we’ve partnered with the council—our team at Signs Express Harlow has supported different departments there over the years—so it was great to be trusted with another large project.

What They Needed
The council introduced a new parking tariff aimed at reducing all-day parking and encouraging more short-stay visits to support local shops and businesses. That meant they needed new signage rolled out across all their public car parks—43 signs in total.
The job involved:
-
Removing the old signs and posts
-
Installing new aluminium tariff boards with laminated vinyl faces
-
Fitting new “Pay Here” signs for clarity
-
Making sure everything looked consistent across every location
How We Did It
This was a time-sensitive job. The new tariffs were going live at the same time across the district, so all signage needed to be installed in sync.
We broke the job into two main phases:
-
First, we removed the old signs and posts and fitted the new posts in place. Temporary boards were used so the car parks could stay open.
-
Then, out of hours, we went back and swapped the temporary signs with the final versions—all within a six-hour overnight window.
Multiple teams worked across Epping, Loughton, Buckhurst Hill, Waltham Abbey, and Ongar to get the job done in just under a week.
The Outcome
Everything went to plan. The signs were installed on time, they’re easy to read, and they match across all locations. The council were happy, and the new signage is already making it easier for drivers to understand the changes.
