Signs Express (Bath) rebrands Bath Spa University's library signs
Bath Spa University reached out to a couple of local sign companies to update all of their library signage with new information and a new look. After filling out a few questions and entering into the quoting process, Signs Express Bath were awarded the job thanks to a competitive price, a quick site survey and an excellent reputation with the University.
The brief for the new signs was to have signage that was:
- Distinct and easy to identify
- Accessible with accessible fonts, style & using ISO symbols where appropriate
- Appropriate for users with a range of learning disabilities
- Cost effective & delivered by a set date
To ensure the brief was met, the Signs Express Bath team produced artwork that would tick all the above boxes. The text on each sign had minimum cap heights – with medium distance signs having a minimum 50mm cap height and short distance room signs having a minimum height of 15mm cap height. In addition to this, the colours selected also needed to allow for easy reading. For this reason, the acrylic signs were grey with white text – the grey contrasting the colour of the wall and the text contrasting the colour of the sign background.
Once the artwork was signed off, the team ensured that all the signage approved was installed before the stated deadline by the client. The installation itself was very quick, thanks to fixings already being in place from previous library signs. The Signs Express Bath team made sure to highlight aspects of the job that could be cost effective including reusing previous fixings and previous acrylic panels.
Overall, the client was very satisfied with the finished look. The team received a five star google review from the manager of the project reading:
‘Excellent service, really impressed with the quality of the work.’
