Signs Express Bath Produce Winning Signage Solutions for Bath Racecourse

As events began reopening, Bath Racecourse reached out to Signs Express (Bath) for help refreshing their site signage ahead of the busy season. The brief was to modernise key areas of the venue — from visitor wayfinding to internal branding — without major structural work.

Project Overview

The goal was to bring the racecourse back to life for returning guests. Our work covered toilet signage, restaurant branding, health and safety signage, and wayfinding updates across the site.

We worked closely with the racecourse team to make sure every design tied in with their existing colours and style, creating a consistent look throughout the venue.

Toilet Refurbishment

The first phase focused on the toilets, which needed a quick visual lift rather than a full renovation.

We started by updating the main “Toilets” fascia sign, replacing it with a new black and cream design that instantly gave the exterior a smarter, more premium look. The same design was applied to the “Ladies,” “Gentleman,” and “Disabled” signs to keep everything consistent.

Inside, the challenge was the dated blue cubicles. Instead of replacing them entirely, we vinyl-wrapped each cubicle using a large photographic image taken at Bath Racecourse itself.

The wrap completely transformed the space — brightening the area and capturing the excitement of a race day while staying cost-effective.

Bottega Restaurant Branding

Next came the signage for Bottega Terrazza Restaurant & Bar, a brand-new restaurant on the top floor of the racecourse’s canopy. The location is exposed and often windy, which made installation particularly challenging.

The standout feature was a set of flat-cut white and gold acrylic letters spelling out “Bottega Terrazza Restaurant & Bar.” These were fitted to glass panels at the canopy edge. Each piece was large, delicate, and had to be installed with extreme care to prevent damage.

Inside, we added a range of supporting features — an Instagram wall showcasing an Italian landscape, floor graphics featuring a branded Bottega moped, menu boards, and an interior wall sign carrying the restaurant’s full name.

The end result gave the restaurant a sophisticated and vibrant atmosphere, perfectly matching the Bottega brand.

Site-Wide Signage

The final phase involved hundreds of site signs to guide visitors safely around the racecourse under updated COVID-19 restrictions.

Our team worked to a tight deadline, installing clear and durable signage across entrances, walkways, and facilities — ensuring visitors could easily find their way while adhering to safety measures.

Challenges Faced

High-level and windy installation on the canopy required specialist access equipment and careful handling. Tight timescales with multiple phases running in parallel. Maintaining consistency across different signage types and materials throughout the site. Despite these, everything was completed on time and to spec.
