OUR WORK
Inchcape Shipping Services
When Inchcape Shipping Services decided to relocate their international head office to the EC3 area of the City of London, they wanted the reception area to make a strong first impression. As a marine services company with roots going back to the mid-1800s, their new global headquarters needed to feel modern but still reflect the history and professionalism behind the brand.
That’s when they approached Signs Express (Harlow) to help turn a curved, fairly plain reception wall into a real statement feature.

Challenges and solutions
The original brief was straightforward in principle but tricky in practice: use the Inchcape logo, give it a 3D presence, and install it on a deep concave curved wall.
From a signage point of view, curves always demand a bit more thought. Fixings, spacing and sightlines all change once you move away from a flat wall. We worked through a few approaches with the client and settled on stand-off deep acrylic lettering and logo elements, spanning just over four metres and wrapping smoothly with the curve.
The result was a clean, bold focal point for the reception – the Inchcape brand sitting proud from the wall, with the depth of the letters catching the light as people move through the space.
Our input to the design and materials
Not long after the reception project was completed, Inchcape invited us back to tackle another feature wall at their Fenchurch Street offices, this time on the opposite convex curve of the space.
For this wall we switched from stand-off lettering to a one-piece feature wallcovering. Installed along the full length of the curve, the design highlighted Inchcape’s global footprint, listing over 300 offices in 68 countries and carrying the strapline:
“A world of local expertise.”
Because the wallcovering had to be in place for the official opening, our installation team worked to a tight programme, carefully planning access and fitting so the graphic went up in a single, clean run without visible joins.
The Result
Together, the 3D reception logo and the curved feature wall turn what could have been a standard corporate entrance into a branded space that actually tells a story – where Inchcape operates, how far its reach extends, and the level of professionalism visitors can expect as soon as they step through the door.
For us at Signs Express (Harlow), it was a great example of how thoughtful internal signage can do more than just label a space – it can quietly carry the weight of a long-established global brand.
