Real Learning Project
We were asked to help with the Real Partnership, a group of organisations working to make learning more accessible across Glasgow. Funded by several public bodies, the project’s goal was simple — create spaces where people of all ages could learn in a friendly, modern environment.

Our approach
The team at Signs Express (Glasgow) was brought in to handle all the signage. Each learning centre had to look part of the same family, even though they were in different settings — libraries, schools, colleges, universities and local businesses.
The design needed to be bright and welcoming, something that felt open and encouraging. Many of the learners using these centres were returning to education after years away, so the spaces had to feel approachable from the moment you walked in.
What we did
We worked with the main design concept, which included the four Real Learning icons. These were used across walls, windows and doors, resized to suit each location. Around the interior walls, we added inspirational quotes from a mix of voices, students, teachers, and local residents, to give every centre a personal touch.
Colour was important. In some buildings we used bold, bright tones to add energy; in others we chose lighter shades that matched the quieter atmosphere. Each space had its own personality, but the brand stayed consistent.
Every site was surveyed carefully before production. That meant we could split the large wall graphics into sections for an exact fit. Once the artwork was approved, we produced and installed everything in about a week.
The Result
The new signage gives the learning centres a clear, confident identity. Visitors now see the same friendly branding wherever they go in the city. The graphics help the spaces feel fresh and open, an environment that encourages people to come in and get involved.
For us, it was great to be part of a project that’s genuinely making a difference in the community. The Real Partnership’s work shows how design and signage can help people feel welcome and inspired to learn.
