Client Needs
The University of Bath got in touch with our team at Signs Express (Glasgow) looking to introduce some eye-catching graphics into some of their student spaces. They were focusing on areas such as walls of halls, stairwells and break-out areas which are parts of the campus that students move through every day.
Project Overview
The aim was to make these spaces more welcoming, uplifting, and visually engaging. Some of the spaces like stairwells and narrow hallways were complicated in terms of layout, surface types and lighting. The key challenge here was to make sure the graphics didn’t just look good on paper but actually worked in these spaces and made a positive impact on the student experience.
Solutions Provided
We designed a set graphics that were printed and contour-cut to give a clean, professional finish. Each design was custom-made to suit its location. Many featured abstract patterns, which provided something creative while still in line with the university’s tone and values. Once approved, everything was printed using high-quality vinyl and installed directly onto the walls by our team.
Role Details
We handled the entire project in-house, from initial ideas and design concepts all the way through to production and installation. Our team worked closely with the university’s team to make sure the process ran smoothly and that all graphics met their expectations. Not just creatively, but in terms of safety, durability and compliance too.
Challenges Faced
Since the campus was still open while we were working, we had to consider timing. A few of the install areas were tough to access, and some involved a bit of technical planning to make sure everything was done safely and without disruption. We did a full set of site checks in advance, planned around busy times, and made sure we had the right equipment in place.
Outcome
For us, the biggest win was how much of a difference the graphics made once they were up. Plain walls suddenly had personality. The spaces felt brighter and more alive and the feedback from students and staff has been fantastic. It’s always nice when the work speaks for itself.
