The addition of the name of a WWI soldier on a metal memorial in Worcester
The challenge was to add a name to an existing metal memorial in a way that was sympathetic to the existing sculpture. Signs Express (Worcester) used a special corrosive solution to melt the metal and blend with the sculpture's appearance. Anti-Rust paint was then applied to complement the faded and rusted design.
The photograph with the coloured vinyl indicates how this process was carried out by making a stencil prior to application of the solution. The metal memorial at Gheluvelt Park honours troops from the Worcestershire regiment who died in the Battle of Gheluvelt in Ypres, Belgium in 1914
